After reading Professor Webb's blog, I think that Achebe is the one being racist. In Heart of Darkness Conrad's portrayal of the African people may seem to be racist itself, but Conrad most likely didn't understand the African people as well as Achebe does. Conrad was a white European, and I think Achebe should have taken that little detail into consideration before making such comments about Heart of Darkness.
